About Jeniffer

Abby at 11 months, Lily at 13 weeks!

My name is Jeniffer Smith, and I’m a Christ-following, husband-loving, stay-at-home mama to my sweet one-year-old daughter, Abiella (Abby, for short), and our sweet new bundle, Lillian (Lily). I’ve been married to my best friend, Drew, since June 2008. It’s been an exciting four years, and since 2010, we have graduated college, moved, bought a dog, begun leasing a house, found out we were pregnant, moved again (after the 7th month…whew!), spent several months searching for a job, delivered a beautiful baby girl during that search, found two jobs, delivered another beautiful baby girl, and have been blessed time and time again by God’s faithfulness.

I graduated with a degree in Secondary Education, specifically English Education. But as I worked in the school district, I realized that public schooling was not and is not my passion. I knew that I would homeschool before I even started my internship, but this experience solidified my decision. I might be open to teach in a private school at some point, but for the moment, I am reveling in the educational journey my sweet girls are already on. Being their private teacher is such a huge blessing!

As with homeshooling, I knew that I would cloth diaper before I even became pregnant. And, honestly, it had nothing to do with green living or being crunchy. It had to do with savings and cute diapers! I watched Melissa’s journey with cloth almost a full two years before I became pregnant with Abby, and I decided that if she could do it, I could too. (And after my first time participating in the Great Cloth Diaper Hunt, I was hooked!) I never, ever imagined that cloth diapering and breastfeeding (which my mom had done with my eleven-years-younger sister and I viewed as normal) would lead me on a path to save even more. Now I’m making my own detergent (regular and cloth diaper-friendly), loving homemade soaps, babywearing, co-sleeping, wanting to eat healthier…the whole nine yards! Parenting definitely changes your whole perspective on life!
