This post is part of the weekly breastfeeding blog hop, hosted by us, and co-hosted by Life as Wife, Mummy, and Nurse. This week’s topic is, “Best Breastfeeding Support on Facebook and Twitter.”
I don’t know about you, but there are times that I find breastfeeding really hard! It may be natural, but that doesn’t mean it is always easy, or that I don’t have questions, or need encouragement. Breastfeeding my fourth has it’s fair share of struggles! I have been so thankful for the support I have found on-line, especially since I know so few people where I live who breastfeed.
There are a lot of great breastfeeding resources out there, but when it comes to community and encouragement on Facebook and Twitter, I just have two favorites:
- The Leaky Boob. First of all, the name just makes me laugh
The Leaky Boob is a community run by Jessica, who has a huge heart for breastfeeding women. You can find her on Twitter at @TheLeakyBoob. You can also join the great community of “leakies” on the facebook page, The Leaky B@@B. In addition to Jessica, there are four lactation consultants who help answer questions and offer support, and lots of other breastfeeding mommas who have been there! On the page it says they are a “breastfeeding pub”, and I think that sums up the feel! - #bfcafe. This is a once a week chat on Twitter. The chat is every Thursday at 9pm CST. The chat is hosted by Katy (@Stylin_Momma), an IBCLC. Each week we have a discussion topic, and also time for questions and answers. Mommas can also tweet throughout the week with the hashtag, and usually get a pretty quick response from Katy or another momma. This chat is always a highlight of my week when I can make it! You can also keep up with #bfcafe through the facebook page, and get reminders for the weekly chats.
I’m so glad we live in an age where this kind of support is available to moms! I know it has played a huge role in my breastfeeding success.
What are your favorite places for support?
