How to Feel Domestic Without Cleaning or Cooking

I have a not-so-secret new hobby. Or obsession. You can decide for yourself which it really is. ;)

I knit.

My husband’s aunt taught me the basics last year, but it wasn’t until the past month or so that I really got into it. I started knitting dishcloths. Upon dishcloths. I think I’ve made 7 total.

Last week, I started knitting baby hats, and I’m finishing up the second one.

I’m officially a member on Ravelry, a knitting site for knitters and crocheters, too. I have tons of patterns that I’m anxious to try out! Mostly it’s more dishcloths along with a lace baby hat, a lace baby blanket, and a sweet baby cardigan. Wonder who those last 3 are for? ;)

I’m really excited about learning how to knit! The more that I learn and the better I get, the more that I look forward to the five minutes or so that Abby gives me to work on projects. The best part is that even when I’m working on a simple design, I’m being productive. Not to mention the fact that when I say I’m knitting, it sounds ridiculously domestic. Even if the house is a wreck.

Do you knit or crochet? Or do any other type of craft? When do you find time to do it?

I can knit scarves and that’s about it! I love my sewing machine, though. I recently opened an Etsy shop and sell baby dresses and other baby gear. I’d love to add hair bows and nursing/teething necklaces soon.

Lol! I CAN sew, I just don’t like to. Too much prep work. ;) But I do love your dresses!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE knitting. I’ve made a few soakers and longies for my daughter and nephew. I also knit a skirtie recently. It’s so nice feeling “domestic” this way.

I still haven’t tried soakers or longies just yet. I’m gradually getting there. ;) But I definitely agree! It’s nice to sit back, relax, and feel super domestic at the same time!
