I hope you all had a great Valentine’s Day yesterday! I had a great night out with just my hubby, which is a rare treat. I made strawberry pancakes, and surprised the kids with little boxes of conversation hearts. It was pretty low-key, but that’s how we roll around here!
With Valentine’s Day, it’s natural I had love on my mind as I thought about today’s post. I kept returning to these verses:
For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith–that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
Ephesians 3:14-21 (ESV)
This has been a favorite passage of mine for years. I love the fact that Paul is praying this wonderful prayer for people he cares about. Not just that they would be strengthened with power. But that they would be rooted and grounded in LOVE, and that they (and all the saints, which includes us) could understand the amazing love of Christ. I think if we could ever get our minds around this part of the gospel… The awesome, overwhelming, powerful love of Christ…
It would change everything.
So this is my prayer for my family today. For you, my readers. For myself. That we could see and understand His amazing love for us!
