Worship Wednesday: Burn

Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.

James 4:14

I don’t know about you, but I have lots of plans for tomorrow.

Tomorrow I’m going to have fun with my kids.

Tomorrow I’m going to spend time in the Word.

Tomorrow I’m going to focus on Christ.

Tomorrow I’m going to speak encouragement.

Tomorrow….

I’ve recently been reminded again that I don’t know if I have tomorrow. I don’t know if I have another breath. I have this moment. Right here. Tomorrow may not come, and if it does come for me, it may not come for those around me that I want to love better.

I want to yearn after the things of God right now. I want to burn for Him, right now, in this moment and breath I’ve been given, as a friend of mine walking through heartbreaking loss encouraged all of us to do. Since reading his words I haven’t been able to get the chorus of the song below out of my head.

I pray that you will listen to it; now, in this moment you have, and that the words will speak to you the way they have to me.

Blessings,

I used to have a verse on my wall that reminded me of this. The one that says, “You say tomorrow you will go here and do this,” or something along those lines. I still hear it in my head anytime I discuss the future.

Yes, that’s from the same chapter. We are studying James in church, and I’ve been trying to read it through several times as well. Lots of good stuff in there! I think its so easy to get caught up in our routine of monotony and forget that we really don’t know what the future holds.

I wrote a post awhile back about us always looking forward tomorrow than living for today. (This post brought that back to me). I loved your song choice. I hope you are having a wonderful Wednesday and tomorrow may we all be thankful. (Since tomorrow is my Thankful Thursday blog hop, haha. )

Thanks for stopping by and commenting! Thankfulness is so important, too. I’ve been trying to work on that as well this week. I have SO much to be thankful for.

  4. I needed this today! I always forget that tomorrow may never come and I spend a lot of time being ways I don’t want to be. Thank you!

You’re welcome. Honestly, I really needed this today!! It was not a stellar day, despite this song being in my head. I’m praying that if I’m given tomorrow I can reflect Him better!
